Museum intelligence

Thailand museums need status, hours, fees, accessibility, exhibits, and source confidence.

Thailand museum data is richer for visitors than most public-place data, but it is split across cultural, tourism, heritage, and POI systems. Use SAC as the broad nationwide museum spine, M-Culture as the official Ministry of Culture listed-museum registry, Fine Arts for national museums and visitor stats, Museum Thailand for visitor-facing hours/fees/accessibility/events, TAT and DASTA for tourism routes and events, DMR/WisdomKing/provincial catalogs for specialist networks, OSM for coordinates and polygons, and Wikidata/Commons for IDs, aliases, and images.

Authority order

Use this order when source layers disagree.

RankSource layer
1Museum existence and status: SAC Museum Database
2Official cultural registry: M-Culture museum dataset
3National museum and Fine Arts learning-site status: Fine Arts Department
4Visitor-facing hours, fees, accessibility, facilities, and events: Museum Thailand / NDMI
5Tourism attraction, event, route, and contact metadata: TAT Data Catalog and TAT Data API
6Community museum and local learning-route metadata: DASTA CBT API
7Specialist science, geology, agriculture, and provincial networks: DMR, WisdomKing, NSM, and provincial GDC catalogs
8Coordinates, polygons, map tags, and nearby access: OpenStreetMap / Overpass
9Images, aliases, QIDs, and multilingual identifiers: Wikidata / Wikimedia Commons
10Reviews, live hours, ratings, and photos: commercial POI enrichment only when licensed

Matching rules

Museums, galleries, archives, historic houses, temple museums, and learning centers overlap, but they should not be flattened into one generic attraction record.

RuleMeaning
1SAC museum URL, Museum Thailand slug, TAT place ID, OSM ID, Wikidata QID, or Google place ID is an exact source-identity match.
2Thai name plus province plus district is a strong candidate match.
3Thai name plus coordinates within 250 meters is a strong geospatial match.
4English name plus the same address is medium to strong, but romanization alone is weak.
5Same operator plus same address plus same subject is a medium match.
6Do not merge a museum, gallery, learning center, archive, historic house, temple museum, and tourist attraction unless source evidence agrees.
7Open/renovated/in-progress/closed status must be versioned because a museum can exist but not be visitable.

Museum source notes

Use SAC as the broad nationwide museum spine, M-Culture as the official Ministry of Culture listed-museum registry, Fine Arts for national museums and visitor stats, Museum Thailand for visitor-facing hours/fees/accessibility/events, TAT and DASTA for tourism routes and events, DMR/WisdomKing/provincial catalogs for specialist networks, OSM for coordinates and polygons, and Wikidata/Commons for IDs, aliases, and images.

Museum regions

Start with the places where visitors actually need museum decisions: wet afternoons, AQI days, heat breaks, family plans, and heritage routes.

Museum themes

Theme pages turn the source graph into visitor use cases: national museums, science centers, local museums, free museums, and rainy-day museum plans.

High-signal museum pages

These pages surface the fields that matter most for real visit decisions: visit info, content, location, accessibility, events, and confidence.
