Before you travel
Ask the firm to confirm the branch, car class, and pickup time. An airport listing does not show which cars are free for your dates.
Phuket Airport offers car rental as part of its ground transport. Check the pickup desk, return point, and hire terms before planning to drive around the island.

Phuket Airport car rental is a self-drive service inside the airport transport system. AOT material says car-rental companies are located within its airports, including Phuket in the six-airport AOT system.
AOT also has current pages for rental firms at Phuket Airport. These include several national brands. Their main research value is simple: they show that self-drive rental is an established airport service with more than one operator. Current offers and stock are not stable facts.
The service is different from a taxi or a car with a driver. In self-drive rental, the customer or another approved driver takes control of the car under a rental contract. In a taxi or chauffeur car, the traveller stays a passenger.
Vehicle classes can include small cars, sedans, SUVs, vans or people carriers, pickups, and some electric or hybrid cars. Exact models and fleet size can change.
The airport does not make a new Phuket driving rule. TAT's national guidance still applies. The driver needs a credential valid for use in Thailand. OCPB's national controlled-contract rule still applies to the rental contract.
Insurance also keeps the same layers. The vehicle sits inside Thailand's compulsory motor-insurance system. It may have wider voluntary cover. The rental contract may also use a damage waiver, an excess, and deposit terms.
The local role is airport-to-road continuity. A traveller can start a self-drive rental at the airport and keep the vehicle after leaving the airport. That is different from buying one airport transfer.
AOT pages can also show live counter sites, hours, and offers. Those details may change. The durable fact is that car rental is part of Phuket Airport's transport setting and follows the same core Thai rental rules as elsewhere.
