Wat Saket and the Golden Mount

Wat Saket sits beside Bangkok's old city, while the Golden Mount rises above it on a man-made hill. The visit is a stair climb followed by a panoramic view.

The temple and the hill

Tourism Authority of Thailand identifies Wat Saket and Phra Bor Banphot, the Golden Mount, among Bangkok's important religious and historic sites. The elevated chedi is the feature that changes the visit: the route winds uphill and the final approach is exposed to heat and rain.

Plan for the climb

Wear shoes suitable for stairs and carry water. A cooler part of the day will make the ascent more manageable. Check the official attraction notice before relying on opening information for a particular day or festival.
