Wat Sa Si

Wat Sa Si is a small island temple inside Sukhothai Historical Park. Its bell-shaped chedi, seated Buddha and pond setting create a different experience from the larger royal complexes nearby.

A temple shaped by water

The ruin sits on an island in Traphang Trakuan pond and is reached by footbridges. The water is not just scenery: it is part of the temple's historic setting and one reason the site reads so clearly in the wider Sukhothai landscape.

Part of a protected historic city

Wat Sa Si belongs to the Sukhothai archaeological park, whose monuments are maintained by the Fine Arts Department within the World Heritage landscape. Stay on the paths and keep the pond edge and historic masonry undisturbed.
