Wat Phra Dhammakaya

Wat Phra Dhammakaya is a modern Buddhist centre in Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani. Its identity comes from meditation teaching, large-scale religious organisation and a site developed from former rice fields.

A twentieth-century foundation

The temple's own history dates its foundation to 20 February 1970 by Luang Por Dhammajayo, Master Nun Chandra Khonnokyoong and their followers. The original land was an approximately eighty-acre rice-field site donated for a meditation centre.

A centre for meditation and ceremony

The main chapel foundation stone was laid in 1977, and the temple describes its continuing work as meditation study, Buddhist education and religious practice. That modern institutional story is more useful than treating the site as an ancient ruin. Check current notices before relying on access or event arrangements.
