Wat Huay Mongkol

Wat Huay Mongkol is a pilgrimage temple west of Hua Hin, built around a large image of Luang Pho Thuat, the southern monk revered in stories of turning seawater fresh.

A modern monument to a revered monk

Thap Tai Municipality records that public and private bodies cooperated to create the large Luang Pho Thuat image. Queen Sirikit attended the casting ceremony in August 2004. The temple's importance is therefore modern and devotional, not the age of an ancient ruin.

The miracle story is part of Luang Pho Thuat's religious tradition. It should be understood as belief, rather than a historical event the monument proves.

Plan it as an outing from Hua Hin

The temple is outside central Hua Hin, so factor in the road journey rather than treating it as a walk from the beach. Check current local notices for access and ceremonies, particularly on Thai public holidays.
