Wat Chalong

Wat Chalong, or Wat Chaiyathararam, is Phuket's best-known temple stop and is closely associated with the revered monks Luang Pho Chaem, Luang Pho Chuang and Luang Pho Kluem.

A temple remembered through its teachers

Tourism material from Thailand's tourism authorities identifies Luang Pho Chaem, Luang Pho Chuang and Luang Pho Kluem as important teachers connected with Wat Chalong. The same material describes Luang Pho Chaem's knowledge of traditional medicine and mindfulness, and the herbal expertise associated with the other monks.

Visit respectfully

Wat Chalong is an active religious site as well as a major visitor attraction. Wear suitable clothing, keep clear of worship and ceremonies, and check current local notices for access and visitor arrangements. Do not treat devotional stories about revered monks as the same kind of evidence as a dated architectural record.
