Phuket Big Buddha

Phra Phuttha Ming Mongkhon Ek Nakkhiri is a 45-metre seated Buddha clad in white marble on Nakkerd Hill. The high viewpoint and the image's scale define the visit, but access has been unusually changeable.

A modern Phuket landmark

The Tourism Authority of Thailand identifies the hilltop image as Phuket Big Buddha and places it above the island's southern districts. This is a modern religious monument rather than an old temple complex.

Check access before leaving

The site closed after a deadly landslide in August 2024. Local reporting says it reopened in March 2026 under new management by Wat Kittisangharam and with safety conditions imposed by provincial authorities. Because those arrangements can change, confirm the latest provincial or site notice on the day; do not rely on an old travel-blog timetable.
