Fuel planning for a Thailand road trip
Find the fuel your vehicle actually uses, mark a primary and backup station, and refill before a remote or mountainous leg. A map pin does not guarantee current stock.
Finding the correct fuel
The Department of Energy Business runs Fuel Now, which can filter stations by province, district, radius, brand and fuel type. Its own notice says station information is still being integrated, so missing or unreported status is not proof that a station has fuel.
Government open-data records can confirm licensed stations, while EPPO publishes reference retail prices. Neither replaces a live check with the station when the next fuel stop is critical.
A primary stop and a backup
Check the rental agreement or fuel cap for the correct petrol, diesel, LPG or NGV product. Save two stations before leaving mobile coverage, refill earlier than you would in a city and keep enough range to turn back. For an electric vehicle, charger compatibility and operating status are separate checks.
If a warning light, leak or wrong-fuel problem appears, stop safely and contact the rental company or roadside service rather than continuing to the next planned station.
