The Gold Traders Association publishes separate reference prices for 96.5% gold bars and ornaments, including buy and sell sides. A jewellery purchase can also include a making charge, so the association’s headline number is not the final total.
Thai consumer rules require gold-ornament labels to identify the product or business, purity, weight and making charge, with buy-back information. Ask the shop to put the exact item and terms on the receipt.
Tourist-area convenience is useful only when the shop provides the same label and receipt detail as a deliberate purchase elsewhere. Do not let an urgent flight or hotel checkout shorten the comparison.
The association maintains a province-by-province member directory, but membership alone is not a substitute for inspecting the label and receipt. If resale matters, ask whether the quoted deduction applies only when returning to the same shop.
